Ecus will be rebranded as Cura Terrae on the 6th January 2025.

With a background ranging from working for charities through local authorities, and with over 24 years of ecological consultancy, Stuart is proud to lead the Ecology team. As a committed ecologist with a clear understanding of developers’ requirements, he drives innovation and quality standards in the team.

He started his career with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) before spending 5 years as a local authority Countryside Warden. He then moved into the private sector, initially with a Wildlife Trust consultancy, and he draws on these experiences to provide development advice which helps clients navigate the drivers of consultees and decision-makers.

He has worked for small to medium consultancies and global engineering firms, providing ecological advice across a wide range of projects, including advice to planning authorities, small-scale housing and other private development to national infrastructure schemes. He has developed a particular expertise in Habitats Regulations Assessment and the management of complex projects and teams of ecologists, both as stand-alone provision and as part of multi-disciplinary teams.

Cura Terrae appealed to him because of the fundamental ethos of the group in delivering sustainable development and its strong track record in providing a high standard of ecological advice. The business maintains a flexible approach to clients’ needs which aligns perfectly with his own.

He joined Cura Terrae in January 2024 and is looking forward to growing and developing the ecological offering, working with a range of clients on a wide range of schemes, and ensuring we maintain our high standards while developing new areas of advice, such as Strategic Biodiversity Net Gain.
