We’re really pleased and excited to announce our acquisition of Northern Archaeological Associates (NAA). The deal was signed on 11 October and NAA will officially become a member of the growing Ecus family from 12 October 2021.
This is an exciting period of growth for Ecus and the acquisition of NAA will further strengthen our expanding Heritage and Archaeology teams around the UK. NAA are based in County Durham and will become an Ecus subsidiary working alongside our North East region (NER), with support from Gael Forest, Regional Manager for NER and Paul White, Head of Profession for Heritage and Archaeology.
"This is a significant and exciting development for Ecus. We look forward to welcoming NAA staff. The market reputation of Northern Archaeological Associates was a particular draw for us, aligning well with our focus on quality of service. For existing members of Ecus staff it means we have a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw on when bidding for and carrying out large heritage and archaeology projects."
Andrew Gunning
Managing Director, Ecus Ltd
NAA’s major commissions include archaeology services on the A1 dualling project, which complement Ecus’s current portfolio of work on road and rail infrastructure. Established in 1990 and with an enviable track record, services at NAA include project design, heritage management, geophysics, landscape surveys, excavation, post-excavation, and community outreach.
"It was important to find the right home for Northern Archaeological Associates, where the business and its staff built up over the last 31 years could continue to thrive. I believe we've found that in Ecus and we look forward to the next part of our journey."
Mary Fraser
Managing Director, Northern Archaeological Associates
