We are delighted to announce that Ecus has been commissioned by Network Rail to provide environmental consultancy support for the renovation of Barmouth Bridge.
The impressive Barmouth Bridge, also known as Barmouth Viaduct, is the longest timber viaduct in Wales and one of the oldest still in regular use in Britain, recently reaching its 150th anniversary. The bridge is a Grade II* listed structure crossing the River Mawddach estuary, which is a European Designated Site for Nature Conservation. Early project development work is being undertaken to inform a multi-million pound project earmarked for Network Rail’s next control period, CP6, which runs from 2019 to 2024.
Ecus’ specialist multi-disciplinary expertise is being brought in to deliver Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) and Marine Licence Application services, across overlapping planning jurisdictions in the coastal zone. As holders of the IEMA EIA quality mark, Ecus has the skills and experience to ensure that all of the environmental requirements are addressed effectively and appropriately.
